Question for Adoptees
I am really having a hard time. I will try to explain as simply as possible.
My neice gave up a son for adoption in 1978. She was 16 and basically my brother (her Dad) forced her to sign the papers. My niece subsequently died in an auto accident in 1979. Her sister and I have decided to look for her son. Her father (my brother) recently passed away. My niece's brothers and my brothers do not want us searching for this child (man). However, we believe it is important for him to know about his mother and our family. I would have never considered this when the child was young. There was no birth father listed on the original birth certificate and we know nothing except the place of birth and county of adoption. Questions are: -Should we search or let it be. We don't even know if he knows he is adopted. -Where do we start. The birth was in Miami Florida 12-23-77 and the adoption took place in Broward County @ six months after his birth. We do know the name that my neice gave him at birth. Can we find him? Thanks so much for your time. Paulette |
