Well...
Three years of searching, three years of laying awake at night wondering about my birthmom, 6 weeks of a PI friend searching for me, a bill that looks like what it would cost to pay for four years of college at a good private university and I get hung up on twice and screamed at once ("YOU'RE RUINING MY LIFE! BURN IN HELL!).
My search is finally over and despite it all I'm still not happy. Mainly because there are still adoptees out there who have not yet made contact. So I'll keep on buggin the crap out of the state legislature here until they get so annoyed with me that ban me. I will only be happy when every adoptee of the age of majority has the right to receive his Original Birth Certificate. Then I'll be happy and not a minute sooner.
My thanks to all of you who have given me aid and support while I've been searching (mn125, sal, BamaDonna, and mitzi especially). You're kindness shows your great character. I will love you all for a thousand years.
But I ain't done yet. There's still another front to fight from.

I so hear you on this!!! I just wanted to tell you, YOU'RE NOT ALONE!!! I'm mad at the system too! and will do what i can to change the laws so we can have our RECORDS!!!!

AWWWWWW ticked! I am SO sorry that you received the reaction that you did....she really has NO IDEA what she will miss out on! You can perhaps take a bit of comfort in that...... She has made the BIGGEST mistake of her life! I'm hoping that at least in some way the answers that you found will bring you some peace of mind and the wondering is now done! I too agree that adoptees have the RIGHT to receive their ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATES with absolutely no hoops to jump through. You keep up the good fight my friend! sal

It's hard to hear about difficult searches like yours. As adoptees trying to make our way in the world, it seems like we deal with every bureaucracy ever sold. Blood, sweat, tears & $$ aren't enough emotional investment to wreck us. But huge overractions like that, just might.

Rest assured that it's not you -- you're just the messenger. Something else is behind that wall of wails. Just don't know what.

Let us know how you're doing, it's why we're all here to help. And I really like your attitude -- lots of people would be wilting in a corner instead.
