[NC searcher]

Hi all. I need some advice from anyone working on a search for a North Carolina adoption. I was adopted through Children's Home Society in Greensboro in 1971, and I'm beginning my search for my birthmother. I have received my non-id info. I have found that NC is one of the stricter states regarding info, having shot down the option of a state registry for years. My BC was altered to indicate that I was born in the county that my AP's lived. All I know is that the agency doesn't place children born within a 50 mile radius of their placement home town. Where in the world should I start? I've registered with every registry I can find, and I've even found a PI that is willing to work with me. I can't pay the $1900 that she wants yet, so I want to do everything I can by myself. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
