I was born in Sharon CT, hospital and adopted in Dutchess County NY. My adoption was sealed. Is there anyway for me to get birth records from one and adoption records from the other? There is a number on my birth certificate. Is this my birth record number?
I do not have a birth name only a city of residence of my birth mom at the time of adoption? HELP!

I had similiar circumstances. Your adoption records will be with the agency in the state you were adopted. That would be the first place to go. You can request your non-identifying information as well as register a "consent to contact" with the state or private agency. As for your birth records...good luck. I have tried unsucessfully to get mine. Your birth certificate number is probably an amended birth certificate. The original is probably sealed up pretty tight, although it does vary from state to state. Good luck.

Don't give up hope just because your records are sealed. Mine were too, but I contacted the agency and they sent me a five page report on my history. I learned so much, I was so stunned!
I had consented to be contacted if one of my siblings contacted the agency and guess what!!!! I have a brother that is three years older than I am and I in the process of reunification with him! I can't tell you how exciting and scary this is! All I could do was cry when I read that I have 8 siblings, one of which has passed, 7 of which are out there somewhere!

Contact your agency right away! You might be surprised to find that one of your siblings may have already contacted them like mine had!
