now that I have a name

I am new to this process...all of this information kinfd of came at me at once, so any advice you could give wouldbe very helpful. I have my maternal grandfather's name and age. And a man with the same name and same age is listed in the phone book. How can i find out his children's names (my birthmom). I don't want to call him or disturb him - is it better just to let the reunion registry handle it? Any advice?
