Father looking for biological son

Please help! My friend is looking for his son that he gave up for adoption when he was five years old.The Office of Child Support took the child away from the mother and placed him in a foster home where he was later adopted. My friend was not married to the mother but was the biological father. He would like to locate his son can you help? His son was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, 0n 08-24-78 at Charity Hospital and his birth name was Clarence Elarry Sergant, a Black male. His mothers name was Sandra Sergant, a black female. He understands that the adopted parents have changed his sons name now and he does not have any idea where to start looking for him. Can you, or anyone help?

Searching for Son

How nice of you to help your friend try to find his son. There are a variety of things he can do. You are already helping him by posting here (and probably other sites as well). It can't hurt to list info in as many places as possible and to register on all the adoption reunion registries (here, Soundex/ISRR and various other locations).

Your friend can go back to the adoption agency and talk to a social worker there that will help him to put a letter in his son's file and/or have him fill out a consent for contact form. He could also try to locate the birth mother since his son will most likely find her first if he is searching.

For more specific search tips, contact Colleen Buckner here on the Experts Search Board.

I wish you all the best as you help your friend make contact with his son.
