Searching for birth family

I'm not sure what you have tried in your process of search so I would suggest you go to Colleen's Search site here on the Experts Board and give her a little background so she can help you with the next step.

There are a number of aspects of search. One is the footwork of search - calling, writing, researching records, etc. that you can do with Colleen's help. Another aspect of search is being emotionally ready for a reunion.

It is important to ask yourself what you are trying to find and being prepared for any outcome. This is a great time to pull together your support system of other adoptees and to read all you can on search and reunion in adoption (check the book selections at this site). You can also go to Carole Bird's Birth parent forum on the Experts Board to get a sense of what birth parents are all about.

Take your time in preparing yourself for a reunion. This is a very important time for you.

I wish you the best in your search.
