We are currently in the process of adopting a baby from PA. We live in NJ. After getting many conflicting guidelines of adopting we hired an adoption attorney licensed in the state of NJ and PA. This attorney has done a few adoptions in NJ but none regarding the required consent. They are telling us that you can't get pre birth consent from the father unless he denies paternity. Before retaining him 2 other attorneys we interviewed said that you could get pre birth consent. I am soo concerned of who knows what they are doing. Has anyone actually experienced a situation where the father can give consent before birth in NJ?
