Mental Illness & adoption

I have Bi-Polar disorderand was on disability. I am now working as a substitute teacher. I am very punctual about taking my medication and the Bi-Polar has been totally under control for over three years. I have a lot of love to give and would love to have children, maybe several related so they can stay togehter. I have a strong, supportive and loving family who live close by. I need to find out if my illness will be an obsticle to adoption and what if anything I can do to minimize it's influence. I live in SC if that has any bearing. Thank you for your help.
