Mental illness & adoption

I have a lot of love to give and would like to adopt. Hopefully several children from one family so they can stay together. I have a very loving and supportive family and we live close. I would like to find out if my illness will be an obsticle to adoption. And what if anything I can do to minimize it's influence. Thank you for your help.
