Update On Our Guatemalan Domestic Adoption
We are currently in a hotel in the city where our son is in the hospital. We went to the hospital today and found out that his culture was negative after 48 hours. They took him off the IV's and installed us in a Mother's room for the day. We got to hold him, feed him and change him as much as we wanted. In the afternoon we were told that the birthmom has decided to parent her son and that she wanted to come to the hospital to hold him. She wanted us to be there. We waited and waited and neither she nor our Agency showed up. Our Agency director came about 2 1/2 hours after she said she would come. She had gone to meet with the birthmom and counseled with her. The poor girl had been at home by herself for much of the day and was really going through grieving for her baby boy. Our director left the ball in her court. If she wants to parent her child, she needs to call in the morning, otherwise we would be taking the baby home with us--OH YEAH, I forgot to tell you that the foster home where they were going to keep the baby for two weeks cannot take him and their other foster family is a lot farther away. We are being allowed to foster a "High Risk Placement", meaning that the foster mom has 10 working days after tomorrow to change her mind. We are at peace in this whole situation. If God wants this boy in our family, it will happen. We want his best. It was a privilege just to spend a whole day with this beautiful baby boy! He is a darling and easy baby (so far)--the nurses think so too. He got lots of hugs and kisses today and NO eye pokes from his eager sister!! LOL Sarah was a star today and was happy and content emptying and filling the diaper bag all day!! LOL Kids don't need toys! We find out tomorrow morning whether or not we take him home with us. It is not over untilt is over!!
