We adopted an eight year old girl this past February. It has worked out really well--she is adjusting beautifully, no major attachment issues or problems. Plenty of bumps in the road, but nothing traumatic--like I have read from some other folks. I think the key is having an agency you can trust to screen the children very closely and that has a good working relationship with the people in the country/orphanage from which you are adopting.
