For quick reference you can check our timeline in my signature for our time frame.
You can also do a search for the Pink list (you probably only need to go back a 2-4 pages to find the last posting) and that will give you a pretty good idea too.
We opted to buy our plane tickets once we had confirmation we were submitted to the Embassy. We got good rates that way and were able to plan ahead a little. (We're leaving Tuesday) Some agencies discourage that...just in case...but ours was fine with it.
