My husband and I have accepted a match of 3 children from Guatemala but won't have finalized our adoption until May or June of 2002. We have already paid for the agency fees and home study which total more than $7,000, but still owe approximately $18,000 for an adoption donation to the orphanage. Our AGI is less than $46,000 per year. This payment will have to be paid next year when we finalize our adoption. Is this something that we can still claim in 2003? How much can we claim as a tax credit? How do we go about finding out about this info?
