I'd like to second Brandy. The same rules have been in place for much longer than most people have been members, so there isn't anything new or made up on the spot to target anyone.
If you've been "getting away with" breaking the rules, that doesn't make it ok. It just means that you'll have to try that much harder to break the habit once a member of the admin/mod team tells you to stop.
In the rare event of banning
Being banned from the site does NOT make it ok for you to create another account. You, yourself, that person sitting in the chair, in front of the keyboard broke the rules and are no longer welcome to participate... it doesn't matter what name you call yourself, it's still you and you were still banned; multiple accounts created by banned members will be banned as well.
Be assured that moderating is not done on a personal level. There are several moderators who make decisions together, so if moderating is required, the moderator telling you about it probably isn't the only one to have looked at the situation and said "something needs to be done about this."
