I try to go with the belief that most people just do not think before words come flying out of their mouths. However, sometimes it's clear that people are just plain mean spirited.
My cousin's daughter had a baby a couple of weeks ago. She's 19 and her boyfriend is 19. Neither of them has a job and he didn't even graduate from high school. Yet, she felt compelled at one point to say "aren't you a little old to be getting a baby?". Now, I'm sure to her that 37 seems ancient, but I wanted to slap her to death.
I started to explain myself then thought "what the hell am I doing explaining myself to her??" and just said "I think I'm the perfect age".
Maybe we should take all late teens and lock them up somewhere!
