We have some extra rules in the Special Needs forum, developed from our experience over four years, 25 boards, more than 2,800 threads, and 16,500 posts (I can't believe it)!
Rule 1:
Posts may not include identifying information regarding children or birth parents. You can identify yourself, and share all kinds of detail about your family and children, but not things like full names of children, name and location of schools and so forth.
Rule 2:
Posts that are critical of other posters must make a positive and constructive contribution. Without such redeeming quality they will simply be removed. In other words, its OK to disagree with others and to say why, but you must make an argument that relates to the topic and advances the discussion.
Rule 3:
Swearing in posts will guarantee deletion, no matter how worthy the sentiment!
Rule 4:
Anonymous posting is no longer permitted. Boy, did that get tiresome!
Rule 5:
Tirades (endless, lengthy posts on the same subject) are so boring that they are usually deleted in the end.
Rule 6:
Bonus point are awarded for any and all posts that include humor.
Rule 7:
Please have fun and remember everything we learned in kindergarden about how we should be with others.
Rule 8:
Another rule...
Signatures with personal non-email contact info and/or inducements for business contacts are not allowed. Web site addresses as signatures are OK, unless the web site is objectionable as to content or veracity. This rule is subjective, of course.
Graham.
