I've been told they tell people that because Texas gives bparents of infants a lot of time to get their act together. It can take up to 3 years before the state will terminate in some cases. Now, there are other situations where this isn't so (they may have older sibs that have been removed and a lot of other things too).

Our kids are from Tarrent county. That's a great county to work with, as we've not had one problem with them in the 6 months we've had our kids from there. They have a quarterly clothing allowance (most places don't, or not much), and activity reimbursments as well! I'm working on getting my kids into summer camps and/ or day camps right now so I can get some of that reimbursed (before they run out of money to do that).

Let me give you some very valuable advice. Once you're licensed, things may not go the way the say in class. Most of the people we work with don't know the "rules" like we were told in class. And these are people in the same agency (we're with a private non-profit that places cps kids), just a different department.

You can be told that there aren't any infants, get licensed and get a call for one! You just never know. But, if you need a contact in tarrent county once you're ready to go (it helps to know the workers), let me know. Good Luck!
