Hi All~ That question of "How many children do you have?" came up for me just recently... again. I was at a funeral & automatically said 3, then corrected myself & said, "Yes, 3 girls & 1 boy, I have an older son who I recently found." But then there's the whole explanation that must necessarily follow. I appreciate hearing how each of you handle it. I have no secrets anymore but don't always want to get into this discussion with people. When we were first reunited, I told the story to anyone who would stand still long enough to listen!
It eventually began to drive my D/D #3 crazy, so I stopped talking when she was around. That hurt me but I realized that her age & immaturity dictated her ability to understand. Besides, I didn't want to distance her from her brother by my exuberance. I really felt like I was walking on egg-shells. She's more together with it now.
