I assume that you, unlike many people, are not bound by religious restrictions on IVF or you wouldn't be considering it. So I'll move on to my second point [I have a few standard responses to this question.]

How will it affect the child, and your bio daughter, to be only biologically related to one of you. Unlike step-family situations, this child would be produced without a relationship between the two parties. This may or may not be an issue in your situation, but you shoudl definately consider it.

Personally, I prefer the idea of adoption to IVF, donors, and surrogacy. There are a lot of children out there, and a lot of bmothers looking for the right family to place their child with.
