LisaCA, I really appreciate your input and first hand experience. I agree about having to pick our battles. This is one I believe is worth fighting because those kids need to be taught that it isn't okay to use that word in ANY situation.
I can relate to the "be like everyone else" statement. Sometimes it would be nice to go shopping and not "stick out". I do know that my daughter doesn't always like being the different kid. I also realize that every kid feels different for one rason or another... I just wish children could understand how fabulous all the differences are!
My rose colored glasses fit me just fine! LOL!
