need feedback.. wrote book based on my F/Adopt kids, should I publish?
We're adopting a 5 yr old, 2 yr old and 9 month old as soon as everythings final, and I am finding my 5 yr old has a lot of questions (of course) about all of the changes happening. I have looked for interesting books to read to her to help initiate conversations about what she is questioning and have so far not found to many she'd be interested in. So I have started writing a series called "My New Life".
My question is, I know it will help her, and hope it would help other children be open to better communication with adoptive or foster parents. I am wondering if I should publish it, and if I did if there would be any interest in it from other parents in my
shoes.
So, here's the scoup..... I wrote the book in my daughters prospective... her reaction to all the changes going on in her life, and basically just things that are "normal" in a kids life, but raise a lot more questions for foster and adoptive children. The story is based on things that really happen, some of the tough questions that she's had, and funny stories that have happened, etc. I am writing it in small chapter with a few pictures chapter book form. (similar to Junie B Jones style, good books by the way) It, so far, keeps things fairly lighthearted, but brings up good conversation peices for kids and parents.
Please let me know if you think people would be interested in the book, and if you think I should go ahead and publish it. Any comments are appreciated.
Thanks for your time,
Carrie
