I am the adoptive mother of two beautiful (twin) 20 month old boys. I will never forget how scary the homestudy visit was for me. Fortunately my husband was calm and confident. I was so sure that June (my homestudy person) would pick apart my housekeeping, decorating scheme (or lack thereof), way I dressed, what I did for a living...everything about me. And would arrive at the conclusion that children would be better off elsewhere. But despite all that I really believe that they can see through all that crap to a loving heart and a sincere desire to love a child (or two). They want the same thing you do - a happy, loving family for every child that needs one. Try to remember that he/she is really on your side. Take a deep breath and just be yourself. I feel sure that everything will go just great for you - even if you or your house isn't "perfect"!
