Lorraine, I'm just amazed that so much was withheld from you about your daughter's history. How can they expect you to effectively care for and advocate for a child when you don't know her history? I am impressed that you're holding it together despite all.
In the past few days I've talked to a couple of agencies, and both have told us not to count on getting a SWAN placement for a child under 8 years old, especially a girl, unless we go into the foster program. Then, of course, we would have to accept legal risk placements that might be reunited with their birth parents or placed with other relatives.
We're not giving up on SWAN, but it's very discouraging. We are looking very seriously at international options.
