Oue newly adopted son has recently started his vaccinations. He's months now and had some done in russia before the adoption. Here in ireland children get Whooping cough, polio, diptheria, BCG, menigitis C and then a 3 in one MMR, measles, mumps and rubella. There has been a lot of controversy around theh MMR and it's links to autism. I have a nephew who is autistic and his mother is sure that the MMR caused it. I've done a bit of reading around the subject and we've decided that Andre will get all his vaccinations. including the MMR. I feel that it is important not only to protect him but to protect others too. Due to the poor uptake in the MMR recently we have had some measles epidemics and no one wants that.
It's a hard decision to make and each parent has to make it and not be bullied into doing something you don't want to. So much of parenting is going with your gut feeling and vaccinations is the same. But do educate yourself and if you go for the vaccinations make sure your child is well on the day
