With the okay of my doctor, when my daughter was ready at about 8 months or so, I introduce soy based meats and cheeses. I found a wonderful macaroni and cheese (no dairy) and she loved the veggie burgers which I could break into little bites. These were a great source of protein.

This was in addition to fruits and veggies, of course..
