Legal question here
Let's say that you live in Georgia, your agency is in Florida, and the baby you are adopting is born in Alabama, where the birthmom is (I'm just using these states as examples for my question). Would the adoption be completed under the laws of your home state, the agency's home state or the birthmom's home state? If it's the birthmom's home state (or the state where she gives birth), then it wouldn't matter too much where the agency is located, would it?
Confused and curious. Thanks!
