Signs, Signs, everywhere signs...
I have read often on these boards of people having "signs" aobut their adoption process and all that accompanies their journeys. I thought I would share a truly awesome "sign" that I received this week:
I was spending a wonderful day with my mother and we were discussing our adoption desires (mine & dh) during breakfast. We were discussing all sorts of things encompassing the adoption process, a good talk.
Our story: I have known since an early age that I would not have any biolgical children of my own. My DH and I have been wanting to adopt. We are working with an adoption advocate and eventually will adopt private/domestic through an agency. Unfortunately, we have been trying to get all of our financial ducks in a row. I'm so anxious to get the ball rolling, however we are facing some obstacles.
So as my mother and I left our breakfast place and drove on to our antiqueing trek (we were in separate cars), I was running numbers in my head and thinking out loud about "will we be able to succeed in adopting", "is this a pipe dream" -- you know all that yes, no, maybe thinking in circles! I kind of got the blues and just thought to myself, I guess the answer is that we are not destined to adopt and we should just fill our lives with each other. I was resigning myself to the idea that my three dogs would be my only babies.
I took a long deep breath and as soon as I had it all out, my cell phone rings and startles me. It was a friend of mine who knows of our desire to adopt and wanted to pass on some information about a child to be born in a few months and the mother wanted to place the child for adoption, she wanted to know if we would be interested. I was so stunned, all I could say was "Yes, we'd like to know more information".
Needless to say, it was a profound moment. And, no, I'm no longer resign to thinking our adopting won't happen! This might not be the child God intended for us but I GOT MY SIGN!
Keep the faith! Thank you for letting me share my story.
