Old thread but figured I would share...Our foster son arrived 2 months ago (at 4 mos old) with a thick layer of cradle cap and majorly dry skin on his face.
At first, we did not notice the cradle cap because the flakes were blending in with his skin tone. After a few days, we noticed!

We applied baby oil before his bath, then bathed him and let the water soak in. Afterwards, we brushed and combed out the flakes. Took 2 or 3 good baths to get through it all. Now we apply baby oil every day. Not a lot, just about a quarter size in the palm of your hand.

For his face, we found the aveeno lotion to work wonders.
