Feelings of adoptive parents once b-mom is found

I'm 39 years old and have always known I was adopted. My adoptive parents ARE my parents and I love them very very much. However I needed to know who I was. They supported me in my Need to Know. Now that I have found my birthmother, I want to be friends with her and my half-sibs. My parents don't understand that. They think they have failed me and that I'm not satisfied with them and want a new family. I have reassured them they are all I want but they still have been hurt. Please help me to understand their feelings. Is there a book I could read or have you experienced the same thing? Please help. Thank you.
