YOu really don't even have to pump if you don't want to. You can simply put the baby to your breast and use a supplimenter like the Lact-aid. The baby get formula or banked milk while stimulating your breasts to make milk. YOu are unlike to build a full supply this way but you will most like build at least 50% within a few months. Once the baby is on solids you may even beable to ditch the Lact-aid.
If your eally want to pump you can but pumps are not as effective as a well latched baby to build milk supply. Your other issue is that you don't have a whole lot of time. Pumping alone takes months to build a good supply, assuming you will let down for a pump. Many women who birthed babies and have great supplies don't letdown for pumps.
Pumping does get a bit of a jump start and if you have inverted nipplespump away. It is a good way to release the adhesions that cause inverted nipples.
good luck. induced lactation is not easy in the first few weeks but once you get the hang of it it is great.
