I am seeking advice on the following situation. My dh and I fostered a girl for a year two years ago she was 15-16 at the time. The girl was removed due to physical and sexual abuse. Her family wanted her at age 15 to get married and to have a baby with a friend of her older brother. Her parents moved the "friend " into the house he was 22. Needless to say it was a very bad situation. She asked not to be reunited with her family but she didn't want to terminate rights either but the county said it was not her choice. When she was with us she made drastic improvments and her behavior was never a problem. She went from having failing grades in all but one subject to all A's and B's she also had a job. So she asked for the county to make her parents allow her to continue having a job and go to the same school and have contact with us. The county agreed and so did her parents. She was reunited with the family but when she returned home her family refused to allow her to go back to high school & home schooled her. The problem being that they didn't register with the state therefor that year which was her junior year so it doesn't count. They also made her quite her job. Her family refused to allow her to have contact with us once she went home. Last week she called us and said that she wanted to talk with us and left a phone number. She is 17 now and turns 18 in september. We called her back and she filled us in on what all had happened including that she now is the mother of a 3 month old baby. She has moved to a neighboring state with the father of her babies family. She wants to have visits with us. Which we are thrilled about. She also wants to go back to school and eventually go to collage. She asked if we can help her
make it happen. She has not asked for money or anything else but I get the feeling from things she has said that what she really wants is to move back in with us. So I guess I am seeking advice from anyone who has been in the situation we want to help her but we aren't sure what we should do. Thanks.
