DH was 46 when Ryan came - it didn't make a lick of difference with the home study or his birth family.

As to your health: The Americans With Disabilities Act protects paparents from discrimination. You will both however need to get physicals. Your doctors will need to state that you're able to physically and emotionally able to care for a child and that you have normal life expectancy.

As to attorney cost, check with the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys - they keep a member list online (google it). Call around to several on the list in your area and compare fees, services, etc. You may find a wide range of costs.
