I am looking for information on how to adopt a child with out a laywer. The situation is.... we have had a child (who legally is my nephew) that we received when he was five months. He is now four years old. He is a drug/alcohol baby. The mother, who is my sister-in-law, signed adoption papers. The father is refusing to sign adoption papers even though he has choose not to see him, contact him or provide any support for him, since the child was two months old. He is in a different state from us. We did have a laywer. The father said that he would sign papers, but when he received them, he refused saying he wanted visitation written into them. The laywer we had did not want to go any further. To get another laywer for this case is going to cost a lot of money we do not have. I have a copy of the laws from our law library and I am going to do this one way or another. Any information about this would be appreciated.
