Sara,
I must be going crazy, I thought that I had responded to message. I have been having trouble the last few days on the internet. I am not sure....
Anyhow, a few years ago I had to write to the DSHS and request my b/c and it too had limited information. However my I was younger I remember a b/c that much more info on it, but it also listed my aparents as my parents. The info had the name and the hospital and so on. Since I have moved over the years I lost some important papers on my adoption that my amom had kept for me.
Currently, I am using an agency called WARM, Washington Adoption Reunion Movement. For a fee the agency will petition the courts to get your records and then they will obtain the adoption file. Then the file is assigned to a CI, a 3rd party, which will try and locate your bparents. The agency will also get your non-identifying information (I also lost this information over the years). Right my petition is at the court waiting for a judge to sign it so my records can be accessed.
Also I registered with the ISSR, it is a free registry. Many other people told me to register with them. As far as your birthdate being changed, maybe in your adoption file that information is there. I remember my amom telling me that they could have changed my bdate if they wanted too. That sounds so strange to me.
I would love to hear about your search also. Since we seem to have some common background. It always helps to have support.
Tommorrow I am leaving on vacation for a few days. Let me know how things are going.
Take Care,
Trina
