WOW!
that is interesting that you may think that your father is your birth father.....is there similaries? why would he not tell you?
my father and i were closer as well....my mom and i are not close at all, never was.....my afather died about 15 years ago and well...the rest is too much!
i lived n an orphanage for 5 years and that was interesting to try to find that....but did....and i did meet someone that during the war, they brought food and clothing to the children....a little before my time....but blew me out of the water!!!!!!!
i have some addresses for you but i have to look up one other thing....and it is at my office in the files.....
but i thought you would be intesested in this....the german embassey site....i have been looking into getting dual citizenship and found all of this.....
http://www.germany-info.org/relaunch...ancestors.html
check out the site, it is intersting!
the one paper that you would look at is the relinquishment paper from your bmother....and it would say "ausfertigung fur fraulein...."
the personal identification number of your mother should be there....it would be under "Personalausweiss by:........."
my mothers starts with a "v. ##.##.##." three sets of two numbers separated by periods....beginning with a "v"....
we are close in age, so it may be similar.....
however my mother was a refugee from czechoslovikia/father was from latvia!! so may be a little different. someone once told me that they kept tabs more closely....especially during the war and the years after....but i was born 10 years later.....some say that doesn't matter....the americans were still there and lots of rebuilding was taking place.......i guess that answers the german woman having children with americans!!!!!!!!!!!!
i am getting other info together for you.....but the website is helpful.....
you have to find the registrar's offices in the cities that you are looking and give them the number.....
i sent the number to the office in the city of which i was born....then they sent me a letter with her address....but said that she wasn't there anymore and gave me the other address to where she moved....the registar's address...i wrote there and this went on for about 4 letters....4 cities....of which germans have to register in each town they move to.....so i ended with her current address....looked her phone number up in the german white pages.....and verified it!!!!!!!!!!
seems easy....there is alot of writing and i was in constant communication with the german embassey here in the us and in germany! they were not helpful....but they tried!
i will write to your email address the rest of the information....
good luck to you and i hope that you can find something.
ok....
by the way i live in michigan.....i moved here about 9 years ago from california.....interesting to say the least!
