Hello!
My husband and I are looking for area foster parents (but I won't turn down e-mail friends ) to form a friendship with...you know, talk, ask questions, cry on the sholder, cheer on, get tough with, possibly get together once in a while...let's face it...we need some friends that understand what foster parents go through!

We are in our 40's, no previous children and have been fostering for 6 months (licensed for 4, sib group, birth to 7 years). Right now, we have a sib group of 3 brothers, 7yrs, 3yrs, 18 months. This case is really screwy, and we have been told that this is definately long term. The boys have a 5 year old sister in the area, and 5 month old twins living with family in Bay City -a stalled adoption.

We live in Warren and work through the Macomb County FIA. We go to the monthly seminars, but it just seems like it has been hit and miss to try to form a friendship with people there. They are so busy, or tired, or don't make the same meetings we do. Or maybe it is us...we don't fit the typical fostering mold we seem to see around here. We were assigned mentors over a year ago, but everytime we call with a question or just to have encouragement, it seems like we are more of an inconvince to them...

We know of support meetings in Warren and up in Mt Clemens, but alas, we only have one auto, and the times have been a little off for us these last couple months (though we hope to hit some by the summer.)

Anyway, we just thought we would throw the line out and see if there is anyone else in the same boat as we. Sure would be nice to have a couple buddies - either locally or on the internet! There are those days I could really use some encouragement...or at least someone to vent to!

We get on the internet about three times a week to check mail and to read up on stuff. Hope to hear from someone soon!
