Potential birth father rights
Hello!
I am in Ohio and have a question regarding birthfather rights. I am in strange situation where the pbmother is married, but not to the person who she believes is the birthfather. I have been advised that the husband is the legal father, and is therefore the only one who must sign a surrender. It is not 100% who the biological father is.
What can this potential birthfather do, if anything in regards to the adoption? would he have to prove paternity? Would he have to get a court order for a paternity test?
I have no intention of keeping him from his child, if indeed he wants to parent. He was with the birthmother when she selected me and I have met him twice. However, there may be pressure from him parents, and I want to know what he could do if he chose to.
Thank you!
