Good, basic book
Hi there -
When DH and I were starting out on our adoption journey, we didn't know WHAT kind of adoption we were going to try to do.
The first book we read, that was very helpful in figuring out how we wanted to proceed, was called The Complete Adoption Book, second edition, by Laura Beauvais-Godwin and Raymond Godwin. We later read books on transracial adoption and international adoption, but those are downstairs so I don't have the exact titles/authors right at my fingertips. I'd be happy to give them to you if you want them - just let me know.
The book I mentioned above was great for us in helping us start to figure out what route we wanted to take. I do recall there are several basic adoption guides available from our nights at Barnes and Noble, scouring the shelves.
There are also some good magazine resources as well, and some of them have websites with archived articles that are very informative (I'm thinking of Adoptive Families magazine right now, but there are others too).
Hope this is helpful. Good luck to you!
Cheers,
Heather
