When I met my child's Bmom for the first time, we were both very uncomfortable, but with our facillitator, we developed a comfortable relationship. We met just twice, had a few phone conversations and I wrote letters with pictures. Our open adoption is now inactive and has been since the baby was about six mos. She told me that she was at peace now that she had met me and could picture her baby in our family. I'm really glad we had that meeting and if someday she feels she's ready to try again, I'm willing to work something out. My worker told me that many times after a few meetings this happens because the child does not know the Bmom and the adults have limited conversation.
