I wanted to respond to this....I would say that in this case - No news is good news. Since she has not told you to go away I think she wants you to stay. Since she has not contacted you, she needs more time. I think it's a lovely idea for you to write her a letter every month, it will be something that she can count on and she will always know that you will be there for her. I don't think that is too pushy and over time it may help her be able to trust you - that you're not going to leave her again. (that was an issue for me and my bmom - I was afraid to get attached in case she decided she didn't want a relationship with me).
