My heart goes out to you! I've been there and its such a dark place. There is hope though! We've adopted 2 kids through private open adoptions with a facilitator. Our total costs were $18k and $20k but after the adoption tax credit ($12500) and my husband's company's adoption assistance reimbursement it only cost us $2000 and $3000 per child. The numbers can be daunting at first but dive deeper. Our good luck is that my husband is also a financial planner. Now he actually specializes in adoption planning and its really saved us. It takes some planning to make sure you can get the full tax credit, and you do have to figure out a way to float the money until the adoption finalizes.

You said you have $15,000 budgeted and I think that you can easily swing it. We waited 9 months and 5 months for our kids. There is so much hope for you so don't get down! I'm happy to talk to you more if you want...christyhoover@cox.net

Good luck!
Christy
