I've had more than one boy who was crazy about Thomas the Train; and we live very modestly. What we've found around here---and we live in a very rural area....is oftentimes, Thomas the Train and friends are sold at rummage sales, and especially at Second Hand stores. I suspect they hold up well enough, those who are 'done' with them, figure they'll get some of their $$ back in a second hand/consignment shop, KWIM?
At any rate, we have purchased some 'new'.....but the majority of them have been purchased at the second hand store!!!
