I would leave it too. She is beautiful and her hair is beautiful I agree that as it gets longer there will be more you can do with it as far s putting it up, etc. I know (better than many!) how much of a time investment hair can be (plese see pics of my 12 y.o. with locs ) but if you are OK with it I would leave it be for at least a little while longer!
