I'm not sure how old he is, but my very bright, very verbal son recently went through that. somewhere between 2 and 3, it was like he forgot how to talk and started stuttering all the time. I would have been very worried if I hadn't watched my nephew go through it. He outgrew it in about 3-4 months and is back on track now. I just gave him a little extra patience during that time.
