Heart Meeting 2nd Grade Teacher

Last week I posted about meeting my daughter E's 2nd grade teacher. I just wanted to thank everyone for the advice and suggestions. The meeting was FANTASTIC. Mrs. G was wonderful with E. We spent time at the Barnes and Noble Cafe, while Em at and talked with the teacher. Mrs. G spent the whole time focusing on Em and getting to know her. We took some pictures of Em doing her favorite things so she would have something to talk about (sometimes she has a hard time talking with others, I'm not sure if it's shyness or what).

The teacher was able to see Em eat, walk, talk and even write a little. So in a fun environment she was able to become familiar with Em and her abilities. After lunch they read books (and I got to browse the store). We spent almost 2 hours together and had a great time. The teacher has already set up a time to get together again. What I really liked was it was all about her getting to know E. I think these get-togethers will be all about Em and we will get together as adults under certain circumstances to discuss expectations and issues for school. Although I was able to mention lots of the suggestions about Em "staying connected"to her class and Mrs. G.

Thanks again everyone for your help with this! I really think this is going to be a great school year for us.
