Completely OT - gardening vs. squirrels

Last year and this year the boys and I planted a garden. Last year was a fight with the squirrels and we got nothing from the garden. This year (I won't get into the details) but our garden has tomatoes, carrots, strawberries, and a cucumber bush and they're all growing and producing.

I wanted to plant some other things in separate pots - but I won't be able to protect them the way that I've protected the garden....

SO does anyone know what types of things that I could plant that the squirrels won't be too interested in?

Someone told me herbs, so I'm going to do some of those (oregano, chives, etc.) but I was hoping I could do some actual veggies or fruit too...

I have a lot of pots of various sizes, well lit area... And I feed the squirrels... but they still like to come over.

The kids LOVE having the garden and seeing things grow... I just wish I could do more
