We still sleep with doors open--- I feel like I need to be able to hear the kids at night. We don't run around with no clothes or few clothes either, and we didn't even before foster kids...
Our 6yo DS jumps into our bed at night too. You're right, they still need their needs met... he says he's scared usually.
It's tempting sometimes to bring the 15month old to our bed when he's having a rough night, but since that's against regulations, we don't. I guess I can understand why from the bparents' viewpoint, but sometimes babies and really small kids could benefit from the warm security of snuggly times like that. KWIM?
Some changes may need to be made depending on the circumstances of the child and the child's age.
