We had a move-in date moved up because we got in a power struggle with the group home where our daughter was living. The guy in charge of the group home thought he would tell us how to do the transition, and when we didn't agree and got the social worker on our side, he basically kicked her out. He even refused to have the move-out party he promised her. So, we ended up with a five-day transition instead of two weeks. (The group home wanted three months and didn't want us to see her every day!)
I would talk to the worker in charge of your transition and just tell them you think it is going really well and you would like to consider moving it up. The school year is a major milestone and waiting for the end of it is worth something. Could you drive him to the same school until the end of the year and switch schools next year?
Good luck!
