But it's just too expensive to buy organic everything. They were mostly on organic baby food, and I still try to buy a lot of organic stuff (fruit, milk and veggies mostly) or at least 'natural' stuff, but selection is limited and some stuff just breaks the wallet. Sometimes it seems only rich people will manage to raise their kids free of dangerous stuff, and it's really sad.

Amen. I find it really disheartening. We're on a tight budget because I left my job to stay home with my son. I try to buy organic, natural products - but it's very expensive and there's a limit to what we can afford.
I feel so frustrated and powerless. I try as a mom to buy him safe, developmentally appropriate toys and to fix him healthy food. And then I find out there are chemicals in his formula cans, (and now soap) lead in the toys, salmonella in the peanut butter, e-coli in the spinach. . .
